As I promised, I am starting an alphabet series of ladies and their hats! This is the first, and I was experimenting with color. That explains the colors of blue and purple in her face, but I really liked the result! So, here is Anna and Her Hat, which matches her flower brooch. (That is sooo me, I love the way women dressed in the 40's, all the fab accessories...I collect and wear them all)...I punched out flower shapes from old newspaper and glued them to the canvas. Then, I added some paint to add color and dimension.
She is painted on an oval shape of wood that I will use for the series..I found out I absolutely LOVE to paint on wood!!! And I added some glitter nail polish to her flowers, but it does not show up on my scan of the painted piece.
cute
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting to kick off the series! Do you prepare the wood with a sealant prior to painting it? I imagine wood is pretty porous. What kind of wood are you using?
ReplyDeleteBTW - I love the experimentation of colors on her face...I need to learn how to be a little more daring in that respect!
Have a wonderful week,
xo

I LOVE hats and can't wait to see what you do with the entire alphabet! Thanks for visiting my blog--would you like to be featured as a cat lady? What colors are your adoptees? All the best, Susan
ReplyDeleteThank you for the follow, I'm glad you found me too cause I love your blog and your art!Love love the hat lady! and the cute little puppy licking the screen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your wonderful comments!!! I thrive on them! I will be doing the hat series and adding more on a daily basis. I am starting "B" tonight! B is for Babette! Of course, I will have to finish her, too. I do the faces first and that gives me the character and I'm off from there...I will also be doing a cocktail series where the cocktail names are in alphabetical order! You would not believe some of the names!!! I should have been an adult in the 50's with all the cool cocktail hours and fun fads! I wear and collect it all!
